When a public intellectual like Swapan Dasgupta is compelled to ask if the Liberal Left’s monopoly is on account of the opposition being crude and not modern, it is a wake up call for us to pause and ask how exactly should the Liberal Left’s monopoly be challenged ?
Offstumped is calling upon the leading lights of this intellectual movement like Swapan Dasgupta, Kanchan Gupta and others to join in on a live Internet Debate that can hopefully be organized on the Offstumped Community Portal.
Historian Ramachandra Guha takes liberties with history

It is a reflection on the effectiveness of Goebellesian anti-Sangh propaganda that despite marking the 60th anniversary of the Indian Constitution in 2010, that Guha can easily make phony claims on adherence in July 1949 to an Indian Constitution which was passed by the Constituent Assembly only on 26 November 1949, to come into effect on 26 January 1950.

The government’s duty is confined mainly to strategic planning, legislation of sound laws and their effective enforcement. The actual business of performing economic activities should be left to non-governmental enterprises.
Unfortunately, even law enforcement agencies and sections of the judicial system apparently have become a part of this nexus. Breaking this nexus, and encouraging healthy entrepreneurship, ensuring lawful and people-focused economic growth, has to be the objective of government’s role in the economy.
India Pakistan Talks – Outcomes please enough with Intentions

The Indian public at large must stake a maximalist position on Pakistan accepting no outcome short of a degradation if not an elimination of Pakistan’s ability to wage assymetric war using non-state actors from behind a Nuclear Shield.
So dear Prime Minister and your band of faithful analysts, please spare us the calculus and please dont sell us on bonafides of intentions. Just be prepared to be held accountable for Outcomes by staking your professional and political careers.
Internet Hindus and A Lobby for Excellence

The label “Internet Hindus”, by the admission of those who coined it, should have nothing to do with either religion, faith or who you pray to.
The label “Internet Hindus” now has a broad secular reference to all those who draw inspiration from Dharma and are opposed politically and ideologically to the left wing psuedo-progressivism of the Media elite.
As the Center Right movement looks to organize itself as the voice of Middle Class and Entrepreneurs, the Leftie media elite better watch out – the Internet Hindus are coming.
At 60 proud to be labelled Internet Hindus

The disgusting communal stereotyping notwithstanding it must be said that Sagarika Ghose’s fulminations and Sanghvi’s confessions betray a growing disquiet in the Delhi based leftie media elite, that they are getting challenged by a generation of internet savvy nationalist Center Right Indians who defy the psuedo-Hindutva stereotype. Hence this new label Internet Hindus.
So thank you Sanghvi and Ghose for labeling us Internet Hindus, we will wear it on our shoulders with pride to remind you of the Center Right movement that shall end the psuedo-progressive monopoly on politics and policy drawing inspiration from Dharma and Constitutionality.
IPL and Pakistani Cricket players

Cricket players from Pakistan who were passed over by IPL did not come by boat illegally without visas. They were ready to sign up to perform in India legally playing by Indian laws.
If granted a legal visa to perform in India there should be no basis for any cartel to tacitly collude and discriminate against any group of individuals be it Pakistani cricketers or Chinese Engineers.
This issue is not about Cricket.
This issue is about transparency, business ethics and how we do business.
Communal Socialism and UPA 2.0

With competitive politics that thrive on a cynical exploitation of a Culture Entitlement becoming the norm there is unlikely to be significant political resistance to this move from the parties.
Will the new BJP President Nitin Gadkari who has been touting his Social Entrepreneurship proudly on his collar, take this Communal Socialism and Culture of Entitlement head on ?
or
will it merely be more regurgitation of the same banal rhetoric of “last man standing” ?
2010 – A decade of Center Right Realpolitik

As we prepare to welcome the New Year 2010, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has set the cat amongst the pigeons with his proposal for Mandatory Voting in Local body elections in Gujarat.
With its potential to dramatically influence turnouts and their underlying demographics the move has the potential to influence electoral outcomes from the inside breaking through the conventional calculus of Caste and Minority vote banks.
Wishing the Offstumped Community a Happy 2010 and hoping that it marks the beginning of a decade during which Center Right realpolitik shall come to dominate the national political debate in India.
Nitin Gadkari – Entrepreneur next BJP President

The jury will be out for long on the merits of Nitin Gadkari’s elevation and his competence for the BJP top party job but if there is one reason the Center Right must give Nitin Gadkari a shot it would be his faith in the Spirit of Enterprise and his strength of conviction in not being shy about it.
While the manner of his election did not inspire confidence to this blogger, his reiteration of his faith in the spirit of Enterprise does raise hopes.
Offstumped wishes Nitin Gadkari the best in his new role
