The countdown to Copenhagen has begun.

Suddenly the media and internet is abuzz on climate change news and views. And like everyone and everything else, there is a scramble for carbon space. So what is the Copenhagen buzz all about and does it mean anything for India?

Gujarat is the highest contributor of on-shore oil production in the country, said RS Sharma, Managing Director of India’s public sector oil giant Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Ltd speaking in a workshop held at IIM Ahmedabad on Sunday.

Sharma said, Gujarat produces six million tonne oil annually.

It should be mentioned here that India’s about one third of the total crude oil production is from onshore, mainly in Gujarat, Assam and Nagaland. Offshore primarily comes from the Bombay High region.
