Gujarat is India’s highest on-shore oil producer: ONGC MD RS Sharma

Gujarat is the highest contributor of on-shore oil production in the country, said RS Sharma, Managing Director of India’s public sector oil giant Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Ltd speaking in a workshop held at IIM Ahmedabad on Sunday.

Sharma said, Gujarat produces six million tonne oil annually.

It should be mentioned here that India’s about one third of the total crude oil production is from onshore, mainly in Gujarat, Assam and Nagaland. Offshore primarily comes from the Bombay High region.
